Grilling: Lighting charcoal in a barbecue grill- If you are using a charcoal grill, you have many options on starting the fire. You can use a charcoal chimney, charcoal and lighter fluid, or ready to light charcoal, but Kell Phelps of The National Barbecue News uses a cedar fire starter. Using a cedar fire starter to light the charcoal in your barbecue grill will take a little longer for the charcoal to be ready to cook, but because it uses no lighter fluid, it burns cleaner.
